I've been expanding my musical horizons lately. My new musical obsessions are a capella groups (as mentioned in my last post) and indie/folk music.
I've always been one to kind of travel a bit off the beaten path with my musical tastes. Not too far off the mainstream path, but definitely a skip hop and a jump away from Kanye and Usher. But lately I've been going much further into the undiscovered talent of the musical world. One of my best friends Liv is a huge indie/folk guru. One of the most hipster girls I know, and lately she's been burning me lots of mix cds with some of her favorite bands.
I went to Chicago this weekend, and the CD she gave me saved me from 3 hours of listening to my siblings sing Christmas songs. Needless to say I'm extremely grateful. The CD she gave me was of this band called First Aid Kit. They're a sister duo from Sweden and their CD is fantastic.
So, here's another shameless plug for one of my new fave bands...check out their youtube channel!! Their music videos are a little quirky, but I'm really in it for the music.
Obviously the only thing to do now would be to look up chords and try some of their songs out on my guitar...well, I guess that's the obvious option for me.

i can just picture the car ride with all the macs singing along to christian christmas songs.. michael occasionally belts a long outdrawn note, jenna sings and rocks side to side, and godmom is just sugary and angelic. freaking love your family.
